Defenceman Corrente breaks left hand, Devils recall Eckford from AHL Albany

NEWARK, N.J. - New Jersey Devils defenceman Matt Corrente will be sidelined indefinitely with a broken left hand.

The slumping Devils, who have just two wins in 10 games, disclosed the injury on Thursday. The team did not provide specifics on how long Corrente would be sidelined.

The young defenceman was involved in a lengthy fight with San Jose forward Ryane Clowe in the second period of the Sharks' 5-2 win over New Jersey on Wednesday night.

New Jersey recalled defenceman Tyler Eckford from Albany (AHL) under emergency conditions.
