Defenceman Dan Boyle rejoins Lightning lineup after missing 36 games

TAMPA, Fla. - Defenceman Dan Boyle returned to the Lightning lineup Thursday night against Ottawa after missing the previous 36 games following wrist surgery.

Considered Tampa Bay's top defenceman, Boyle had 20 goals and 43 assists last season.

Boyle underwent surgery in early November to repair damaged tendons in his left wrist. He was injured Sept. 22 when a skate slipped from a hook above his locker, then missed the first nine games of the season.

Boyle appeared in four games before an MRI exam revealed two of the three tendons repaired during surgery on Sept. 23 had not healed properly.
