Defenceman Jason Strudwick returns to Edmonton Oilers on one-year deal

EDMONTON - Veteran defenceman Jason Strudwick is returning to the Edmonton Oilers on a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old has spent the last two seasons with his hometown team.

Strudwick had six assists in 72 games for the Oilers last year.

In 631 career games with the Islanders, Rangers, Vancouver, Chicago and Edmonton, he has 13 goals and 53 points.

Also Friday, the Oilers signed free-agent defenceman Richard Petiot to a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old spent all of last season with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.
