Defenceman Mark Stuart signs three-year extension with Atlanta Thrashers

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Thrashers like what they've seen from Mark Stuart.

The defenceman signed a US$5.1-million three-year extension with the Thrashers on Monday—a little over a week after being acquired in a trade from Boston.

Stuart has appeared in just four games with Atlanta.

In 287 career NHL games with the Bruins and Thrashers, Stuart has 13 goals and 40 points.

The 26-year-old is earning US$1.675 million this season and will average $1.7 million per year on the new deal.
