Defenceman Stefan Schneider signs amateur tryout with Manitoba Moose

WINNIPEG - The Manitoba Moose signed 20-year-old defenceman Stefan Schneider to an amateur tryout contract on Monday.

Schneider recently completed his season with the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks.

The native of Vernon, B.C., had 23 points (12-11) in 72 regular-season games this season. He added three goals and two assists in 13 playoff games.

Schneider hasn't been drafted by an NHL team.
