Derek Roy, Thomas Vanek lift Sabres to 3-1 win over Red Wings

DETROIT - Derek Roy and Thomas Vanek scored 2:21 apart in the third period to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

Paul Gaustad added an empty-net goal and Ryan Miller stopped 42 shots for Buffalo.

Johan Franzen scored for Detroit and Jimmy Howard made 17 saves.
