Devils scoring leader Patrik Elias out with sore foot

Elias, who has a team-high 32 points, participated in warmups before telling Devils coach Claude Julien that his foot was too stiff.

Team officials made no announcement regarding Elias. New Jersey's next game is Tuesday night when it hosts Pittsburgh.

It marked the first game this season that Elias didn't play. He missed 39 the first games a year ago due to hepatitis-A.

The star left wing's tip-in snapped a second-period tie at Washington on Friday night, leading the Devils to a 4-1 win.

The 30-year-old Elias signed a seven-year, US$42 million contract in July to stay with New Jersey.
