Don't fix what ain't broke

We live in an age of entertainment characterized by caged gladiators lobbing well-placed leg sweeps and then pummeling each other with their fists - and people love it. Such is the UFC phenomena.

That being said, I feel that few people object to the idea of two consenting tough guys squaring off to sort their differences in a controlled environment.

Fans, and especially new fans, are set afire by it. The litmus test: Ask any decent Chicagoan (Hawks) fan if he objects to Adam Burish mixing it up a bit during the game and note the response (likely a resounding laugh heard round the bar top).

When things are looking so good, it would be an unwise decision for hockey administrators to tamper with this aspect of the sport.
