Duchene, Fleischmann and Staal are named NHL's three stars of week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Colorado Avalanche linemates Matt Duchene and Tomas Fleischmann plus Carolina Hurricanes centre Eric Staal are the NHL's three stars of the week.

Duchene bagged the first star honours after collecting a league-leading seven points (four goals, three assists), highlighted by a pair of game-winning goals in four Avalanche victories.

Fleischmann, the second star, matched Duchene with four goals and three assists. In his first home game since his Nov. 30 acquisition from Washington, Fleischmann picked up a goal and two assists in a 7-5 win over Chicago on Dec. 13. Two days later at the Blackhwaks, he scored three third-period goals in a 4-3 win.

Staal, the third star, totalled four goals and an assist in three games, helping the Hurricanes to three consecutive victories.
