Ducks face lowly Thrashers seeking third straight win

Atlanta (19-32-5) at Anaheim (28-24-5), 8:00 pm EST

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Captain Scott Niedermayer and

the Anaheim Ducks aim for their first three-game winning streak

since November when they host the Atlanta Thrashers on Sunday.

Niedermayer scored a pair of goals, including the winner 55

seconds into overtime, as the Ducks edged the Calgary Flames,

3-2, on Wednesday to sweep the home-and-home series.

The 35-year-old defenseman, who ended a four-game pointless

streak, has recorded eight goals and 30 assists this season.

Anaheim is currently in thick of a tight playoff race in the

Western Conference. The seventh-place Ducks are one of five

teams with either 60 or 61 points, bottled up between fifth and

ninth.

The Thrashers have lost seven of their last nine, including a

3-1 setback to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

Atlanta, which is opening a four-game road trip, owns the

second-worst record in the NHL.
