Ducks trade defenceman McCarthy to Thrashers for future considerations

ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Ducks have traded defenceman Steve McCarthy to the Atlanta Thrashers for future considerations.

The deal was announced Thursday. McCarthy had no goals, one assist and seven penalty minutes in two pre-season games with Anaheim. He previously played with Atlanta during the 2007-08 season.

He has appeared in 302 NHL games, including stints with Chicago and Vancouver, with 17 goals, 38 assists and 168 penalty minutes. He spent last season with the Continental Hockey League.
