Ducks try to continue winning streak vs. Canadiens

Anaheim (3-5-0) at Montreal (5-0-1), 7:00 pm EDT

MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks are slowly rebounding

from a dismal start to the new season. A meeting with the

mighty Montreal Canadiens might derail their comeback.

The Ducks go for their third straight win on Saturday when they

visit the Canadiens in the third contest of a four-game road

trip.

Anaheim opened the 2008-09 campaign with four straight losses,

dropping five of its first six games overall. The Ducks have

bounced back on the road, earning a 3-2 shootout victory over

the Maple Leafs on Tuesday before posting a 4-3 victory over the

Ottawa Senators on Friday.

They will need a better performance on Saturday if the Ducks are

going to keep their winning streak alive against the Canadiens,

who have won five in a row after suffering a shootout loss to

the Buffalo Sabres during the season opener.

Montreal has outscored its opponents, 21-9, during its streak -

and winning each of its first three home games in the process.

The Canadiens should be well rested after playing their last

game on Monday - a 3-1 triumph over the Florida Panthers.

Captain Saku Koivu notched his third goal of the season while

defenseman Andrei Markov added an assist - his ninth of the

campaign to tie Koivu for the team lead with nine points.
