Ducks visit Canucks without Selanne

Anaheim (18-12-3) at Vancouver (18-12-3), 10 p.m. EST

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks are

about to find out what life is like without Teemu Selanne.

Expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a cut in his left quad muscle,

Selanne will not dress for the first time this season when the

Ducks visit the Vancouver Canucks on Monday.

Playing in his 1,100th career game, Selanne left Friday's 3-2

victory over the Edmonton Oilers in the first period.

The 38-year-old Finn was checked along the boards by Oilers

defenseman Denis Grebeshkov and got up with a noticeable cut on

his leg early in the contest.

However, the tests revealed no damage to any tendons or other

connective tissue, and the injury will not require surgery.

Selanne, who had 14 goals, had a season-high four points in a

7-6 shootout loss October 31 to Vancouver.

His prowess on the offensive end will surely be missed,

especially since 11 of the Ducks' last 24 games have been

decided by one goal.

Ryan Getzlaf has seven goals and 11 assists in his last 16

The Canucks have been trying to carry on without their injured

star, goaltender Roberto Luongo. They have not had much success

in doing so and after Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Chicago

Blackhawks, they are 5-6-1 without him in the lineup.

Prior to that setback, Vancouver had won two in a row.

NHL Off-Season Outlook: Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks have a decent core, but there's lots of tinkering left on the horizon. They need improvement from within, as well as a boost from some new faces, if they’re going to move up the Pacific standings.
