Essential Water Cooler

Are you ready for a completely weird crew of NHL award winners this year? It could happen. Josh Harding continues his Vezina-like goaltending in Minnesota, Alex Steen is still looking Hart-worthy in St. Louis, while rookie Tyler Toffoli is beginning to pick up Calder steam in Los Angeles. The season is about one-third of the way through and these players either haven't tailed off, or are hitting their strides. Do you believe they can take home the hardware over the bigger names?

Primetime Play

Why is Harding up for the Vezina? Could be saves like this one on Philly's Jakub Voracek. Harding earned a 2-0 shutout of the Flyers, his third of the campaign (tying him for first in the league).

Men of the Night

Olli Jokinen, Winnipeg: Must have been the skates. Jokinen had his blade changed midway through the game and ended up with two goals and a helper as the Jets downed the New York Rangers 5-2.

David Desharnais, Montreal: The little guy had two assists for the Habs (one of which was a stunner to Rene Bourque) as Montreal got by New Jersey 3-2.

Tyler Toffoli, Los Angeles: The youngster popped in two goals for the Kings, who staved off St. Louis 3-2 in a clash of Western titans.

Better Luck Next Time

It's been a tough season for New York's Michael Del Zotto and last night was another slog. The offensive defenseman was a minus-3 and failed to contribute any points toward the Rangers' cause. Trade rumors abound and Del Zotto has but five points through 21 games.
