Edmonton Oilers appoint Stu MacGregor to role of head scout

He's worked with the organization for the past eight years. In his new role, MacGregor will be responsible for the team's amateur scouting staff and will run its table at the NHL draft.

"We are pleased to announce the appointment of Stu to this new position," said Kevin Prendergast, Edmonton's vice-president of hockey operations. "He has a great background in the game."

Based in Kamloops, B.C., MacGregor has scouted junior hockey and college games for the Oilers in Western Canada and the U.S. He's also scouted major international tournaments around the world.

Prior to joining the Oilers, MacGregor was a member of the Dallas Stars scouting staff. He's also a former general manager of the WHL's Kamloops Blazers.
