In two seperate games on Nov. 1, two similar incidents occured with two very different outcomes.

In a game between the Rangers and Capitals, Rangers defenceman Dan Girardi was hit by a puck in the face and fell to the ice. It took the refs a good 10 seconds to blow their whistles.

In a later game between Calgary and Detroit, referee Gord Dwyer tripped on Alex Tanguay's stick and fell hard onto his back and his refereeing counterpart blew his whistle within a second of Dwyer's fall.

Come on NHL refs and especially Stephen Walkom, let's protect the players and refs equally from now on, okay?
