Eric Staal, Marc-Andre Fleury and Rick Nash win NHL weekly awards

NEW YORK - Carolina Hurricanes centre Eric Staal is the NHL's first star of the week after recording nine points in three victories.

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury and Columbus Blue Jackets winger Rick Nash were named the second and third stars Monday.

Staal led the NHL in scoring for the week, recording five goals and four assists as the Hurricanes closed to within a point of a playoff spot the Eastern Conference.

Fleury stopped 92 of 97 shots in posting a 3-0-0 record with a 1.63 goals-against average and .948 save percentage last week.

Nash scored four goals and added two assists last week in leading the Blue Jackets to a pair of victories.
