Erik Christensen leaves intrasquad game after injuring shoulder

Atlanta Thrashers center Erik Christensen injured his right shoulder in an intrasquad game Tuesday. He underwent an MRI Tuesday evening, but the results won’t be known until later in the day on Wednesday.

Christensen, acquired by the Thrashers as part of the deal that sent Marian Hossa to the Penguins last season, was the frontrunner to center the team’s top line with Ilya Kovalchuk and Jason Williams.

Christensen had 24 points in 59 games last season.
