This week in the NHL will be remembered as Evander Kane week.

Kane began the week as a healthy scratch in his hometown of Vancouver as the Winnipeg Jets lost to the Canucks 3-2, then news surfaced that the forward broke the team’s dress code by wearing a tracksuit to a mid-day team meeting, which then turned into a much larger story involving an altercation with teammate Dustin Byfuglien, who tossed the tracksuit into the team’s showers.

It all ended today when the Jets announced that Kane would need left shoulder surgery, with a recovery timeline taking four-to-six months.

Or at least the surgery announcement looked like it was the end of it, but alas it wasn’t.

In a tightly played game Friday between the Jets and the Chicago Blackhawks, the game went into overtime where Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad would net the winner for Chicago in a 2-1 win.

Immediately after the goal light went red, a Kane shirt-jersey – with tags – hit the ice, reminding everyone watching of Winnipeg’s displeasure with the former fourth overall pick.

The one-time 30-goal scorer is still just 23 years old and has been at the forefront as the NHL trade deadline approaches. The left-winger has 222 points in 361 career NHL games.
