PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Teams heading in opposite directions

meet on Saturday when the Philadelphia Flyers host the Phoenix

Coyotes.

Jeff Carter scored a pair of goals and Martin Biron made 40

saves to earn his first shutout of the season as the

Philadelphia Flyers skated to a 3-0 victory over the Buffalo

Sabres on Friday.

Scott Hartnell also tallied and defenseman Andrew Alberts

extended his assists streak to four games for Philadelphia,

which has won three in a row and four of five (4-0-1).

Despite the sudden surge, the Flyers have lost each of their

last three games against the Coyotes, falling 3-2 in the most

recent meeting on December 18.

However, Phoenix fell to 0-3-1 over its last four on Friday,

suffering a 5-2 setback to the Carolina Hurricanes.

have not scored more than two goals in any game during their

slide and rank 25th in the NHL, averaging 2.44 goals per game.
