Former Canucks owner tells court talks with would-be owners too slow

John McCaw told a B.C. Supreme Court Tuesday he was concerned the deal wouldn't go forward because talks seemed stagnant compared to deals he'd worked on in the past.

He said he'd received several proposals from Tom Gaglardi and his partner Ryan Beedie that he didn't favour, but Gaglardi said he wasn't willing to negotiate.

He also said he was irritated that despite a non-disclosure agreement, a story leaked to the media about negotiations.

The team was eventually sold to Aquilini, who was an associate of Gaglardi and Beedie when the three first decided to bid for the team.

The pair claim Aquilini used his inside knowledge of his former associates negotiating tactics to scoop the team from them.
