During the late years of Hockey Night in Canada on CBC, Tim Thompson’s video montages were works of art.

Set perfectly to bands like The Foo Fighters, Tragically Hip and Smashing Pumpkins, Thompson’s montages were awe-inspiring and produced goosebumps on the arms of even the most hardened of hockey fans. With a new hockey season right around the bend, Thompson, who didn’t join the Hockey Night in Canada crew at Rogers, has produced a brand new video titled Maple Leafs Forever.

Even if you’re not a Maple Leafs fans, the video is worth watching:

The video is set to the song ‘Peace and Quiet’ by Ron Hawkins & the Do Good Assassins. As always, Thompson found a near perfect piece of video for every lyric, especially the last verse when pairing the Stanley Cup with the line, “Is it funny how you seem just like a rumor now?"

Sure, the Maple Leafs may be heading for yet another season of rebuilding, but the video should even give Toronto fans preparing themselves for another basement finish reason to feel some sort of excitement about puck drop this evening.

Much of Thompson’s work now finds a home on his YouTube and Vimeo channels. If you're not a Toronto fan or the Maple Leafs Forever video didn't get you prepared, take a look through his other works and try not to be pumped up for the 2015-16 season to get underway Wednesday night. It's impossible.
