Former NHL defenceman and coach Mike Milbury joins CBC as analyst

TORONTO - Outspoken former NHL defenceman, coach and general manager Mike Milbury has signed on as an analyst with Hockey Night In Canada, the CBC announced Monday.

The 56-year-old Milbury will join the show's broadcast team as an analyst and a regular on The Hot Stove, a panel discussion during the second intermission of the early game of HNIC's Saturday night doubleheaders.

"His experience as an NHL player and executive is reflected in an entertaining on-air style," HNIC executive producer Sherali Najak said in a statement.

Milbury, a native of Brighton, Mass., had 238 points and 1,552 penalty minutes as a defenceman for 12 seasons with the Boston Bruins. He later coached the Bruins, then moved to the New York Islanders where he was general manager for 11 years and had three stints as coach.

Milbury worked as a studio analyst on TSN last season.
