Foster's short-handed goal leads Marlies to 3-2 win over River Rats

ALBANY, N.Y. - Alex Foster's short-handed goal in the third period broke a 2-2 tie and the Toronto Marlies beat the Albany River Rats 3-2 Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

Derrick Walser scored a pair of goals for the Marlies (7-0-0-1), who lead the North Division with 15 points.

Dave Gove and Brandon Nolan replied for Albany (5-3-0-1).

Scott Clemmensen was largely untested in Toronto's net, making 12 saves on 14 shots.

Michael Leighton made 34 saves for Albany.
