Thanks to additions such as Evander Kane, Ryan O’Reilly and coach Dan Bylsma, the anticipation for the new-look Buffalo Sabres is high. But it’s the excitement around potential star Jack Eichel that really has Sabres fans anxiously awaiting puck drop.

Eichel has taken part in scrimmages, development camp and has been around the team for more than a month at this point, but finally fans can get their first look at what the young No. 15 will look like in Sabres blue and gold.

As part of a promotional announcement for Eichel joining the Bauer Hockey roster, the 2015 draft’s second overall selection took part in a photoshoot in which he donned full gear. Here it is, Sabres fans:

Eichel, 18, has spent the past two seasons absolutely dominating competition at every level. In 2013-14, he scored 33 goals and 73 points in 45 games with the U.S. National Team Development Program in the USHL. This past season, having moved on to the NCAA’s Boston University, Eichel managed an outstanding 26 goals and 71 points in 41 games en route to Hobey Baker honors as the NCAA’s best player.

Eichel, one half of the draft duo that went 1-2 in 2015 colloquially referred to as ‘McEichel,’ signs his Bauer deal little over two months after Connor McDavid, the first overall selection in 2015 by the Edmonton Oilers, signed a five-year extension with hockey giant CCM-Reebok.

While financials of the deal between Bauer and Eichel have not been released, it was believed the deal for McDavid was worth somewhere in the $1 million range. If Eichel got near that amount, the two players will likely be 1-2 in yet another category: sponsorship dollars for an NHL rookie.
