Giroux at it again, bites Gudbranson’s jersey. Has he snapped?

Claude Giroux is one of the most talented players in the NHL. He can also be a bit of a pest. Giroux has pulled some odd antics this week, this latest instance being a bite and tug on Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson’s jersey.

Claude Giroux has had a strange year, to say the least. There was the incident over the summer in Ottawa involving a cop, he wiped some snot on a linesman, and now he’s gone and bitten Florida Panthers defenseman Erik Gudbranson.

That’s right. During Thursday’s game against the Panthers, Giroux was skating alongside the massive blueliner, turned to face him, bit his jersey, then tugged at it with his teeth. The whole thing is very strange to see:

There’s been no shortage of players who have been known to use whatever antics it takes to get under the skin of opposing players, but this is entering Steve Ott licking Jeff Halpern’s visor territory.

Unfortunately for the Flyers captain, his odd antics didn’t help get his squad by the Panthers, as Philadelphia fell 2-1 in a shootout. The Flyers have now lost two straight.
