Give linesmen more power

I don't think there will ever be a complete solution to the officiating in the NHL, but here are a couple of proposals that I think could help.

First, the linesmen should be able to call all penalties if they happen to see something. Second, they should confer the same way NFL refs do on calls that are iffy at best.

These guys have a tough job, no question, but isn't it more important to get it right and play a fair game than to give them power to control an outcome?

I say yes.
