Hamilton Bulldogs' offence explodes in 7-0 rout against Rochester Americans

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Bulldogs exploded for five goals in the second period en route to a 7-0 blowout against the Rochester Americans in American Hockey League play Tuesday.

Aaron Palushaj and Olivier Fortier gave the Bulldogs (24-13-5) a 2-0 lead in the first.

In the second Hamilton's offence ran wild over Rochester (17-22-4) with goals by Ryan Russell, J.T. Wyman, Andreas Engqvist, Frederic St. Denis and Mathieu Carle.

The Bulldogs chased Rochester starter Jacob Markstrom, who let in five goals on 23 shots. Backup Tyler Plante didn't fair much better, giving up two goals on 12 shots.

At the other end of the ice, Curtis Sanford made 22 saves for the shutout.

He was hardly tested—Rochester failed to get a single shot off in the third.
