Hasek will wait a few weeks before deciding if to continue playing career

"Me and my family have to make the decision," said the 42-year-old goaltender, who signed a one-year incentive-laden contract with Detroit last summer. It turned out to be a good move for both sides as Hasek backstopped the Red Wings to the Western Conference final, where Detroit was eliminated in six games by the Anaheim Ducks.

"Physically, I felt great this season," Hasek said.

And the numbers back him up. Hasek went 38-11-6 with a 2.05 goals-against average, .913 save percentage, and eight shutouts during the regular season, his 15th in the NHL and third with Detroit in two stints.

Hasek was 10-8 with a 1.79 GAA, .923 save percentage, and two shutouts in the playoffs.

"We've talked to him and said we want to see him back," Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom said. "But he's got to take some time and talk to his family."

Todd Bertuzzi, who can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, wants to return to Detroit.

The six-foot-three, 245-pound power forward underwent back surgery in October and played a total of 15 games during the regular season, eight with the Red Wings after being acquired from Florida at the trade deadline.

He had three goals and four assists in 11 playoff games.

"This is a great dressing room to be a part of," Bertuzzi said.

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland wants to sign Bertuzzi, but only if a deal can fit into the team's salary structure.
