Hayley Wickenheiser named Canada's captain for IIHF women's championship

Wickenheiser, of Shaunavon, Sask., was named captain for Canada's team at the upcoming IIHF world women's hockey championship Saturday.

"This is a great time for Hayley to take on a more rounded leadership role on Team Canada," Davidson said.

Wickenheiser also served as Canada's captain at the Four Nations Cup.

Montreal's Caroline Ouellette and Vicky Sunohara of Scarborough, Ont., will serve as alternate captains.
