HC MVD wins Game 3 of Gagarin Cup final 3-2 against Ak Bars Kazan

After dropping the first two games of the Gagarin Cup final on home ice, HC MVD managed to pull off a 3-2 win on the road against Ak Bars Kazan.

HC MVD went ahead early on a power play goal by Alexei Ugarov seven minutes into the opening frame, but Aks Bars tied it up seven minutes later on an Alexei Yemelin tally.

After a scoreless second period, Maxim Velikov gave HC MVD its second lead of the game with a late goal in the final 10 minutes. Alex Tertyshny gave the visiting team insurance scoring during a scramble in front of the net with six minutes to play to make it 3-1.

With Ak Bars goalie Petri Vehanen pulled, teammate Stepan Zakharchuk cut the lead to one with a goal in the final minute of regulation, but that was all the offense the home side could muster.

Ak Bars captain Alexei Morozov was involved in a collision midway through the third period and did not return to the game.

Game 4 of the Kontinental League final is scheduled for Tuesday, April 20 in Kazan. Ak Bars leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.
