Hilarious interview sees ECHL player pull Super Troopers ‘Meow’ game antics

Channeling his inner Super Trooper, ECHL player Ray Kaunisto busted out the “cat game” and casually dropped “meow” into an intermission interview seven times for one of the season’s best interviews.

For those that have seen the 2001 cult classic film Super Troopers, you’ll immediately recognize and know what “cat game” is. If you haven’t, here’s a quick explainer: in one scene, two highway patrolman, bored with the job, attempt to make it interesting by seeing how many times one can slip the word “meow” into a sentence.

If it sounds ridiculous, that’s because it is. Now, thanks to Ray Kaunisto of the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings, we get to see the scene reprised in intermission interview form:

For those scoring at home, Kaunisto worked in seven ‘meows’, just three shy of the total from the movie’s scene. It was quite the effort, though, and especially good when you consider he couldn’t script the questions coming his way.

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Kaunisto six points in 16 games this season.
