Hockey Things: What Caught Our Eye Last Week (March 21 Edition)

Ève Gascon adds to QMJHL history, a new Maple Leafs jersey is on the horizon after being potentially leaked by Justin Bieber and Kevin Weekes broke a bunch of trades in untraditional locations.

Here's a look at what caught our eye the past week:

Ève Gascon's moment

On Saturday, Ève Gascon became the third woman to play in the QMJHL after starting for the Gatineau Olympiques.

Like all rookies, she got the solo lap during the pregame warmups on a day that saw a sellout crowd in attendance at the Slush Puppie Centre for Gatineau's game against Rimouski.

Gascon made several big saves for the Olympiques, making 18 in her debut. Even though she didn't get the victory, she played great. There is nothing like seeing another ceiling shattered in the game and here's hoping that Gascon can make more starts in the Gatineau net.

A new Maple Leafs' jersey is on the way

Justin Bieber and Martha Stewart by accident may have leaked an upcoming  Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. Whoops.

In an Instagram post a few weeks ago on Stewart's page, the two celebrities took a picture together with Bieber in a dark blue (or is it black?) sweater.

At first, it wasn't clear what the deal was about. But then, the Leafs teased a new dark jersey to be released during its Next-Gen Game on March 23 against the New Jersey Devils. Is it the one Bieber teased?

No word on if the Maple Leafs themselves will turn the jersey color debate into a new "is the dress blue or gold?" saga.

Kevin Weekes will discuss trades anywhere

The longtime NHL-goaltender-turned-analyst has been a staple of league coverage in many aspects, including breaking news.

Over the weekend, Weekes has been first to a bunch of the trades, but he's not doing it in a traditional style.

You can't help but appreciate Kevin being ready wherever and whenever to get into these different deals in a manner that's incredibly refreshing and lighthearted.

From the Archives: The Magic Elixir That Amazed the Rangers

Since there was nothing in the National Hockey League's 1950-51 rulebook that forbade the Rangers from drinking a "magic elixir" to gain a playoff berth, the Blueshirts did sip -- and sip and sip.
