National Hockey League

CAROLINA HURRICANES-Signed LW Trevor Gillies to a one-year contract. Agreed to an extension of their lease at the RBC Center by five years through to 20023-24.

FLORIDA PANTHERS-Named Peter DeBoer coach and signed him to a multi-year contract.

OTTAWA SENATORS-Named Craig Hartsburg coach.

SAN JOSE SHARKS-Named Todd McLellan coach.

Ontario Hockey League

SAGNINAW SPIRIT-Acquired F Barry Sanderson from Niagara in return for a fourth-round selection in the 2009 OHL priority draft and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2011.

WINDSOR SPITFIRES-Acquired LW Jacob Lalonde plus an eighth-round selection in the 2009 Priority draft from Sault Ste. Marie in exchange for LW Jordan Nolan.
