CAROLINA HURRICANES-Agreed to terms with D Tim Gleason on a four-year contract. Acquired the rights to LW Darcy Hordichuk from Nashville for a conditional 2009 or 2010 fifth-round draft pick.

VANCOUVER CANUCKS-Named Stan Smyl director of collegiate scouting and Dave Gagner director of player development.

WASHINGTON CAPITALS-Signed LW Oskar Osala to a three-year contract.

HERSHEY BEARS-Signed D Tyler Sloan.
