Hurricanes coach Maurice seeking first win since return

Philadelphia (12-7-6) at Carolina (12-12-2), 7:00 pm EST

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Carolina Hurricanes hope

coach Paul Maurice's second game back goes better than the

first.

After a lackluster performance is Maurice's return to the bench,

the Hurricanes will look to reverse their fortunes against the

Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

Tuomo Ruutu and Matt Cullen scored Thursday, but the Hurricanes

had Maurice's return spoiled in a 5-2 loss to the Pittsburgh

Penguins.

Carolina, which has lost five of its last six games, brought

back Maurice - who also coached the franchise from 1995-2003 -

after firing Peter Laviolette on Wednesday.

The Flyers are also struggling, losing three of their last four

contests. Philadelphia has still done a great job at picking up

points, though.

Scottie Upshall and defenseman Kimmo Timonen scored Thursday,

but the Flyers could not stop a late rally and lost to the New

Jersey Devils, 3-2, in overtime. Martin Biron turned aside 28

shots for Philadelphia, which is 8-1-3 in its last 12 contests.
