Hurricanes look for more offense against Thrashers

Atlanta (5-7-2) at Carolina (8-4-2), 3:00 pm EDT

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Though the Carolina

Hurricanes aren't scoring much, they are still finding ways to

win.

Hoping to ignite their offense, the Hurricanes can earn their

fourth win in five games when they host the Atlanta Thrashers on

Sunday.

Each of Carolina's previous five wins have come by one goal, and

it has failed to score more than twice in half of its contests.

The Hurricanes are coming off a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa

Senators on Friday. Joe Corvo and defenseman Dennis Seidenberg

scored, while goaltender Michael Leighton made 22 saves en route

to his fourth win of the season.

The victory made Peter Laviolette the winningest American-born

coach in NHL history, surpassing former Tampa Bay Lightning

coach John Tortorella with his 240th career victory.

After dropping nine of its previous 10, Atlanta has won three

straight - including a 5-4 overtime victory over the Buffalo

Sabres on Friday for its first road win of the season.

The Thrashers have been sparked by Vyacheslav Kozlov, who

registered three assists in that win and extended his point

streak to five games. He now has five goals and four assists

during the surge.

In the teams' last matchup, the Hurricanes beat the Thrashers,

7-1, on March 28.
