Hurricanes look to end home woes vs. Lightning

Tampa Bay (19-27-12) at Carolina (29-25-5), 7:00 pm EST

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Following a dominating

performance on the road, the Carolina Hurricanes will attempt to

snap a three-game home losing streak when they face the Tampa

Bay Lightning on Friday.

Eric Staal scored a pair of goals Thursday to lead the

Hurricanes to a 6-2 win over the lowly New York Islanders.

"I thought we responded well throughout the whole game," Staal

said. "If we play the type of game, we will get our fair share

of wins."

Dennis Seidenberg, Ray Whitney and Anton Babchuk each collected

a goal and an assist and Matt Cullen also tallied for Carolina,

which won its fourth straight road game and moved within three

points of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes, who will face one of the worst teams in the

conference for a second straight night, have not won at the RBC

Center this month.

The Lightning squandered an early two-goal lead during

Thursday's 3-2 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils. Ryan

Malone netted both goals for Tampa Bay, which has lost three

straight contests.
