Hurricanes return home to face struggling Oilers

Edmonton (4-4-1) at Carolina (5-2-2), 3:00 p.m. EDT

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Carolina Hurricanes

return home from a six-game road trip to take on the slumping

Edmonton Oilers on Saturday afternoon.

Carolina went 3-1-2 on its two-week trip, which ended with a 1-0

victory at St. Louis on Thursday.

Tuomu Ruutu scored the lone goal in the third period and Cam

Ward stopped 19 shots for his seventh career shutout in the win.

Edmonton comes in on a five-game losing streak after opening the

season with four straight victories. One more loss would match

the team's longest slide of last season.

The Oilers have struggled offensively to say the least, scoring

five goals during their skid.

Defenseman Sheldon Souray scored the lone goal on Thursday as

Edmonton dropped the first game of a seven-game road trip, 3-1,

at Nashville.

It will be Carolina's first home game since a 3-1 loss to

Detroit on October 13.
