Islanders forward Michael Grabner suspended two games for check to the head

NEW YORK, N.Y. - New York Islanders forward Michael Grabner was suspended for two games without pay by the NHL for an illegal check to the head of Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:42 of the first period of Saturday's game in New York.

No penalty was called on the play.

The suspension will cost Grabner US$30,769.24.
