J.D. Watt breaks third-period tie as Abbotsford Heat edge Worcester Sharks 4-3

WORCESTER, Mass. - J.D. Watt broke a tie at 9:22 of the third period as the Abbotsford Heat edged the Worcester Sharks 4-3 Saturday night in American Hockey League action.

The Heat concluded their nine-game road trip with an 8-1 record.

David Shantz, who came on in relief of Abbotsford starting goaltender Matt Keetley midway through the second period, stopped 16 of 17 shots he faced to earn the win. Keetley gave up two goals on 17 shots before being replaced.

Frank Doyle, making his first start in net for the Sharks, allowed four goals on 28 shots in the loss.

Mikael Backlund scored a goal and added two assists for the Heat (31-24-8). T.J. Trevelyan led Worcester (36-18-5) with two goals and an assist.
