Jackets activate centre Derick Brassard after an eight-game absence

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated centre Derick Brassard off injured reserve after missing eight games with a hand injury.

General manager Scott Howson announced the move Wednesday shortly before the Blue Jackets hosted St. Louis. Brassard was available to play.

Brassard was injured against Los Angeles on Feb. 18. He has 14 goals and 25 assists with 47 penalty minutes in 57 games this season, setting career highs in goals and points.

He is tied for second on the club in game-winning goals (three), while ranking third in power-play goals (five) and fourth in goals, assists and points.
