Jake Dowell scores in overtime as IceHogs beat Marlies 4-3 in overtime action

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Jake Dowell scored a second before the overtime period was set to expire as the Rockford IceHogs beat the Toronto Marlies 4-3 in American Hockey League play Wednesday.

Tied 1-1 after two, Andre Deveaux gave the Marlies (15-15-6) the lead 45 seconds into the third, but Rockford's Kyle Greentree scored his second of the night at 2:05 on the power play. Matt Keith then gave Rockford (20-16-4) a 3-2 lead at 7:45, only to see the Marlies' Tyler Bozak tie things at 15:44.

Dowell's winner came at 4:59 of the extra period.

Greentree opened the scoring at 14:51 of the first and Kyle Calder beat Rockford netminder Joe Fallon with 52 seconds left in the second for the Marlies. Mark Cullen had two assists for the IceHogs

Fallon finished with 17 saves, while Toronto's Joey MacDonald stopped 24 shots in defeat.
