Kings D Mitchell activated after 14-game absence; Brad Richardson goes on IR

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Los Angeles Kings have activated defenceman Willie Mitchell from their injured reserve list.

Forward Brad Richardson also went on injured reserve Monday before the Kings visited Detroit.

Mitchell missed 14 games over the past five weeks with a broken left wrist after getting injured Nov. 5. The veteran defenceman had five points in his first 13 games with Los Angeles.

Mitchell is expected to play against the Red Wings when the Kings open a five-game road trip.

Richardson incurred an upper-body injury during last Thursday's victory over Calgary. The grinding forward has seven points in 26 games.
