Kings hoping to end struggles against Avalanche

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Kings will attempt to snap a

four-game losing streak to the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday

when respective last-place Western Conference teams meet.

The Kings have not beaten the Avalanche since December 29, 2007.

Los Angeles has dropped three decisions to Colorado this season,

including a 6-1 setback in their most recent meeting on December

9.

Anze Kopitar and All-Star Dustin Brown scored 74 seconds apart

in the middle session to lead the Kings to a 5-2 victory over

the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.

Kyle Calder netted a goal and set up another while rookie Drew

Doughty and fellow defenseman Matt Greene collected two assists

apiece for the Kings, who ended a four-game losing streak.

The Avalanche also snapped a skid in their last contest. Ryan

Smyth and Milan Hejduk notched their respective 300th career

goals as Colorado snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-2

victory over the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

Marek Svatos, rookie Chris Stewart, defenseman Ruslan Salei and

Cody McLeod also tallied for the Avalanche.
