Columbus has announced that Michigan star Gavin Brindley will turn pro and is expected to make his NHL debut tomorrow night against Carolina.
Brindley, who turns 20 on October 5th, had a stellar season this year. He played in a total of 40 games and had a stat line of 25-28-53. His 25 goals were second in the Big Ten to his teammate Dylan Duke, who had 26. Brindley's 53 points led the Big Ten, one ahead of his teammate Rutger McGroarty. His 25 goals tied fellow 2023 draft pick Will Smith for 6th in the nation, and his 53 points were 8th in the country. Last Friday, he was also named as a first-team All-American.
Unfortunately, due to how late he signed, he most likely won't be able to join the Cleveland Monsters, but they sure could've used him.
The Monsters are loaded with talent but have struggled down the stretch, mainly due to the loss of firepower. The CBJ had to call up many of the Monsters' best players due to their injury struggles late, thus hampering Cleveland. They're 2-6-2 in their last 10. and slipped from 1st in the North, to third. But they still have 3 games left, one against 2nd place Rochester, and two against 4th place Toronto. It should set up for a wild finish.
