IRVINE, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks were back on the ice on Monday morning after returning from a quick two-game road trip to Dallas and Minnesota. The Ducks took three of four points on the road trip, falling 4-3 to the Stars in overtime and beating the Wild 3-2 in regulation.
Here’s how the lines looked during today’s practice:
Looks like head coach Greg Cronin is keeping his new-look lines from Saturday’s win against the Wild intact.
Troy Terry scored two goals in that game, with his new linemates assisting on the first of those two. Bo Groulx also had a nice outlet pass to Adam Henrique coming out of the penalty box that led to a breakaway attempt for the latter.
On the defensive end, Olen Zellweger displayed flashes of brilliance alongside Cam Fowler while Radko Gudas continues to elevate every single one of his defensive partners.
It was good to see Max Jones back on the ice at practice for the first time since the beginning of the month. Jones suffered an upper-body injury against the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 5 during the first period and did not return to the game. He was placed on injured reserve two days later.
Like many of the Ducks this season, the injury caught Jones right when he was starting to find his groove. The winger had become a staple on the Ducks’ third line and was also part of the first power play unit with Leo Carlsson out due to injury.
Ilya Lyubushkin was also back at practice after recovering from the upper-body injury that prevented him from joining the team on their recent road trip. He rotated with the defensive pairs today and has a couple more practices to get right before Anaheim’s next game on Wednesday against the Sharks.
Goaltender John Gibson was not present at today's practice due to illness. In his absence, Ducks assistant equipment manager Jeff Tyni filled in. Tyni played club hockey at Cal State Fullerton and has served as an emergency backup in the ECHL, SPHL and NHL.
In other Ducks-related news, defenseman Robert Hägg was also reassigned to AHL San Diego.
