Report: Todd McLellan Is Out Of The Running To Be The Next CBJ Head Coach

There's never a dull moment in the Cannon City.

The Athletic's Aaron Portzline has reported that long-time NHL head coach Todd McLellan will not be named the 11th head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

In his X post, Portzline says that the LA Kings, Blue Jackets, and McLellan couldn't agree on a contract.

While it's important not to jump to conclusions, speculation is that the CBJ front office didn't offer enough money to LA, or McLellan. McLellan has one year left on his contract that he signed with the LA Kings. Was the issue with LA or Columbus?

So, for now, the deal has fallen through, but it's probable that the Jackets come back with another offer.

The other two candidates rumored to be in the running are Jay Woodcroft, and Dean Evason, both were also fired this past season.

    Stay tuned.
