Lee Sweatt leads the way with 3 points as Moose beat IceHogs 5-2 in AHL action

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Lee Sweatt led the way with a goal and two assists as the Manitoba Moose beat the Rockford IceHogs 5-2 in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Victor Oreskovich and Jonas Andersson, with a goal and an assist, Kevin Connauton and Sergei Shirokov also scored for Manitoba (2-0-0). Eddie Lack made 23 saves for the win.

Kyle Beach and Brandon Bollig replied for Rockford (0-1-0), while Hannu Toivonen made 26 saves.

Manitoba opened the scoring at 5:38 of the first when Andersson broke in with speed through the neutral zone and drove the net after taking a feed from Sweatt. Andersson put a shot on Toivonen before stuffing the rebound home.

Connauton then beat Toivonen with a shot from the point to make it 2-0 Manitoba after one.

Sweatt scored on a 5-on-3 power play at 4:16 of the second and Manitoba made it 4-0 just 31 seconds later when Shirokov scored his first of the campaign.

Rockford's Bollig broke Lack's shutout bid at 3:24 of the third. Beach made it 4-2 three minutes later but Oreskovich put the game out of reach at 15:01 of the period.
