Leino and Laliberte replace Carter and Gagne as Flyers look to eliminate Devils

NEWARK, N.J. - With top forwards Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne sidelined by foot injuries, the Philadelphia Flyers have Ville Leino and David Laliberte in the lineup for Game 5 of their first-round series against the New Jersey Devils.

Carter and Gagne both sustained a broken right foot Tuesday in the victory that gave the Flyers a 3-1 series lead and set up a potential elimination game Thursday night.

The injured Flyers forwards will undergo surgery on Friday. Gagne is expected to be sidelined three weeks. Carter will be on crutches for six weeks and is likely out for the rest of the playoffs.

Leino, acquired from Detroit, had six goals and five assists in 55 NHL games. Laliberte recorded two goals and one assist in 11 games with the Flyers.
